What is Rome?
Rome is the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain, St. Peter’s Basilica, the “Fori Imperiali”, and the Olympic Stadium. Rome is the new Congress center on Christopher Columbus Street (via Cristoforo Colombo), the new music center and Renzo Piano’s Auditorium, Centocelle’s working-class suburb and the historical neighborhood of the Garbatella. Rome is the Porta Portese gate, the taverns (osterie), the Pyramid Cats colony, the Grand Opera, the tram-line, the “mosciarelle” (dry chestnut) and the “olivari” (the olive groves).
